Small footprint, big impact = little piece of magic.
Stepney Solution
Picture a single fronted cottage in an established area close to town. Inside a growing family, bursting at the seems but sensibly not wanting to lose their outdoor space to a large extension. The answer here seemed obvious. Build up. Young and savvy these clients are believers in urban density. They run an electric car and chose to remove the ugly carport backing onto their laneway, designating half for vehicle and bikes, the other half for outdoor entertaining and dining. It is very encouraging for architects to engage with clients of this generation who do not believe big is best. Small footprints can have a big impact.
